Does composite decking fade over time?
When considering the type of decking you want to lay, it’s important to bear in mind how it will look after it’s been laid for a few months.
Composite decking is made from hardwood fibres in order to minimise natural UV fading. However, with uncapped decking of any brand, there will be some fading visible over the first few months of installation giving a more textured appearance. This is a standard process called weathering.
Any initial colour difference between boards is due to the natural colour variance in the wood fibres and once weathered, the composite decking boards will all be a similar colour tone forever.
Which decking colour is least likely to fade?
The most fade resistant decking colours are often dark colours, such as Slate Grey, Pecan Brown and Midnight Black.
It’s important to remember that colour variations can occur from batch to batch, so we therefore advise ordering boards for your project in one delivery if there is a large area on display. We would also recommend that you order a few extra boards just to account for any damages that may occur whilst installing.
Can I buy composite decking that will not fade?
