Extra wide PVC decking FAQs
What is PVC decking?
PVC decking is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a durable and low-maintenance plastic. Ecodek’s PVC deck boards are made from recycled PVC. The core of our PVC boards is manufactured from 100% recycled materials, with a plastic coating on top.
Unlike traditional wood decking, PVC decking is engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions, resist moisture, and prevent common issues like rot, mould, and insect damage. This makes it a long-lasting and reliable choice for outdoor spaces.

Is PVC a composite material?
The PVC we use to make our extra wide deck boards is a composite material. We use recycled PVC in the core of the boards, which is then topped with a plastic coating.
Learn about the difference between PVC decking and composite decking in our blog: Composite decking vs PVC decking – what’s the difference?
Why choose hollow PVC decking?
Hollow PVC decking offers numerous benefits, including exceptional durability, low maintenance, and resistance to moisture, mould, and insect damage. It doesn’t splinter, crack, or warp like traditional wooden decking.
The PVC boards are lightweight, which makes them easier to handle and install. Additionally, the long lifespan makes them a practical and cost-effective choice for any outdoor space.
How easy is PVC decking to clean?
PVC decking is very easy to clean and maintain. Its smooth, non-porous surface means most spills can be easily wiped away. We recommend cleaning your PVC decking at least twice a year with warm soapy water using a cloth, sponge or soft bristle brush. Unlike wood, PVC decking doesn’t require regular sanding, staining, or sealing.
How to clean composite decking has everything you need to know about keeping your boards in tip-top condition.
How long does PVC decking last?
PVC decking is known for its durability and, unlike timber, it will not rot, split or warp. Ecodek’s Revive collection has a ten year guarantee, retaining its strength, shape and textured surface for many years to come.
More details on the lifespan of different boards can be found in our blog: Reviewing the lifespan of decking materials.
What are extra wide deck boards used for?
Extra wide deck boards are usually found in settings where a contemporary, minimalist finish is sought. Using wide boards instead of standard width boards reduces the number of boards needed to complete the decked area. The resulting decking has fewer seams than it would otherwise, making for an effective finish.
Where fast installation is a priority, extra wide decking boards can be used. With fewer boards to lay, the decked area will usually be finished quicker than if standard boards were used.
