What should I look for in a decking sample?
When playing around with a sample to see if it suits your space, we recommend you always check the following:
- Core – boards with a solid or denser core are usually more durable than those that are hollow.
- Texture – if you’re after the wood-effect of traditional boards, then make sure the texture is realistic.
- Colour, particularly in different lights – check it’s the tone you’re after, whether it’s morning, noon, or night.
- Scratch and slip resistance – rub it between your fingers to see how much grip the board offers.
- Warranty – the longer the warranty, the better!

Ecodek provides board samples that measure 90mm x 136mm. They are typically between 21mm and 24mm thick and can be requested from every one of our composite decking collections.
