Cladding FAQs

Can composite boards be fitted vertically or horizontally?

Yes. Thanks to an intuitive tongue-and-groove fitting system, the boards can be installed either horizontally for a classic shiplap effect or vertically for a striking, modern aesthetic.

Do I need an air gap behind composite cladding?

Yes. Installing boards onto a batten subframe creates an essential continuous airflow cavity behind the cladding. Proper ventilation prevents moisture buildup behind the boards and prolongs the life of your exterior walls.

How do I clean and maintain composite cladding?

Unlike traditional timber, Ecodek cladding requires no sanding, sealing, painting, or varnishing. To keep it clean, simply wash it down periodically using warm soapy water, a soft bristle brush, or a low-pressure power washer.

Is composite wall cladding pest and insect resistant?

Yes. Because the material contains high-density recycled polymers, it provides no food source or nesting ground for wood-boring insects, beetles, or rot-causing fungi, preserving structural integrity over time.

Is composite wall cladding waterproof?

The boards themselves do not absorb water, making them rot-resistant and impervious to moisture damage. However, composite cladding functions as a rainscreen covering to shed wind and rain rather than a fully sealed watertight system. Standard building practice requires a breathable membrane behind the battens.

Is composite wall cladding recyclable at end of life?

Ecodek cladding is built on circular principles. In addition to being composed of 88% recycled materials, the boards are 100% recyclable, ensuring zero material wastage at the end of their functional lifespan.

What are the dimensions and coverage of Ecodek cladding boards?

Each board measures 3.6 meters in length, 219mm in total width, and 26mm in depth. These specs ensure a modern finish and simple coverage calculations for exterior wall projects.

What colours are available in composite wall cladding?

Our boards are available in three contemporary finishes: Oak for a warm natural look, Stone Grey for a sleek mid-tone, and Black for a bold, modern accent to match any architectural design.

What is composite wall cladding made of?

Ecodek composite wall cladding is an eco-friendly material engineered from 88% recycled inputs, combining reclaimed wood fibers and recycled polymers. It offers the natural look and feel of real timber while providing maximum durability without warping or rotting.

What tools are needed to cut composite cladding boards?

No specialist equipment is required. You can cut composite boards using standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or miter saw fitted with a fine-toothed, carbide-tipped blade.

Where is Ecodek composite cladding designed and stocked?

Our cladding range is designed and stocked directly in the UK, ensuring consistent product availability, rapid delivery times, and reliable customer support for your construction project.
