Removing timber frame at Willen Lake

Gorah Decking’s customer wanted a 3.6m by 3.6m decking area for their new timber pergola. As their timber decking had rotted, they decided to opt for composite, as it would be much lower maintenance and have much greater durability.

Firstly Oliver removed the old timber decking, pergola and the original concrete supports. He then installed new wooden posts and post saver sleeves (for rot protection).

A weed suppression membrane was then laid to prevent unwanted growth and structural damage underneath the deck. Oliver then carried out a base ‘MOT’ to ensure the integrity of the foundations before fitting pedestals, Ecodek’s composite joists and finally the Signature AT composite deck boards.

As the customer was keen for the colour of the timber pergola to match the Ecodek decking, Oliver sourced a bespoke timber paint for a perfect finish. The entire project took only eight days to complete – just in time for a family wedding party, where the new decking became a DJ area and dance floor!
