Why choose grey composite decking?

We’ve watched grey composite decking grow in popularity in recent years – and it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re looking for a dark grey tone to add a touch of drama or a light, frosted shade to connect indoor and outdoor spaces, grey hues can do it all.

Next generation grey capped decking

The capped boards in our Evolution collection feature EcoTech®, an advanced protective layer. Providing a textured woodgrain finish and anti-stain and colour fading properties, EcoTech® makes our Evolution boards a premium choice of capped decking.

These boards are available in three beautiful shades of grey, from the deep hues of Graphite Grey to the cool, crisp finish of Ice Grey.

Traditional, uncapped grey decking

Two striking shades of grey are on offer in our collections of Heritage (woodgrain), Signature AT (ribbed & grooved), and Essentials deck boards.

If you prefer decking with a more authentic look, the uncapped nature of these boards has a natural, wood-like appearance, making them your perfect choice.

Does grey composite decking fade?

Grey composite decking is more resistant than traditional timber decking to the elements, including UV rays.

Boards in our Evolution collection of capped decking feature EcoTech®, our advanced layer of protection, which enhances resistance to stains and colour fading.

Boards in our other collections, including Heritage (woodgrain) and Signature AT (ribbed & grooved), are manufactured from hardwood fibres, which minimise natural UV fading.

Any newly installed grey composite deck will show some signs of fading during its first few months. Known as ‘weathering’, this standard process results in a slightly textured appearance.

Understand the weathering process by reading our blog: Will composite decking fade over time?

Is grey decking in fashion?

Grey decking is growing in popularity for use at-home and in commercial settings, particularly across leisure and hospitality. Outdoor spaces, like rooftop bars and hotel grounds, need to appeal to the eye and able to withstand high levels of footfall.

Durable deck boards with a darker finish, like our Graphite or Slate Greys, are perfect for achieving a contemporary finish, without compromising durability. They also tend to match existing cladding or soffits, making them an ideal choice.
