Enhancing Entrance Safety for RNLI Wandsworth’s 24/7 Lifeboat Station

RNLI Wandsworth operates as a 24/7 manned lifeboat station on the River Thames, responding to life saving emergencies around the clock. Ensuring maximum safety, durability, and secure footing at the station entrances is essential for the crew’s rapid response times and heavy daily operations.

Main contractor Re-Gen UK Construction Limited selected Adek aluminium decking to upgrade the decking at both the front and side entrances of the station. Upgrading an operational emergency response facility presents distinct operational and material requirements.

As a 24/7 manned RNLI station, all entranceways must remain reliable, safe, and fully accessible at all times without risking slip hazards for crew members responding to emergency callouts. Additionally, the entrance decking is continuously exposed to moisture, changing weather, and high foot traffic, requiring materials that resist moisture damage, rot, and wear.

The station needed a decking solution that combined maximum slip resistance and structural durability with a professional aesthetic that complements the facility. Re-Gen UK Construction Limited installed Adek Enhanced Grip (RAL 7016) across the front and side entrance areas.

Adek was chosen over alternative decking suppliers specifically for its superior slip resistance, proven long term durability, and aesthetic colour options. Key features of the installation include a high traction anti slip surface engineered to provide dependable grip in wet, fast paced emergency conditions, a durable low maintenance profile designed to withstand heavy continuous use without warping or rotting, and a sleek colour finish that elevates the station’s entrance aesthetics while meeting strict performance criteria.
