Composite lumber FAQs
How is composite wood made?
Composite wood (also known as ‘composite lumber’) is a material made by combining wood and plastic.
At Ecodek, we mix sustainably sourced wood flours with recycled HDME polymers to produce composite lumber that is more sustainable than composite materials made from virgin timber or plastic.
What is a good alternative to timber?
Composite lumber (or composite wood) is one of the best timber alternatives. It doesn’t warp, rot, or degrade, and has minimal maintenance requirements, unlike timber.
Timber needs to be stained and sealed regularly, whereas you don’t need to worry about this for composite wood. It’s also available in different colours and finishes, so you can achieve the desired look without having to paint it (as you would have to with timber).
