Covid 19 update 5th January 2021
With the announcement by the government of the New National Lockdown, the guidance states that the manufacturing and construction sectors may continue to operate.

We are, therefore, pleased to confirm that we will be continuing to operate as a business, with appropriate Covid safety measures in place during this period to support our customers and the wider industry supply chain.

The health and safety of our customers, suppliers and employees remains our top priority so we will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks, but at this stage we see no reason to change our manufacturing, distribution or service activities.

We encourage all staff, customers and suppliers to fully observe all recommended safe operating procedures and, in particular, the wearing of masks, social distancing and regular hand washing.

Roots Foundation – BBC DIY SOS for Children in Need, Swansea

In late Summer 2017 we were contacted by the BBC’s DIY SOS team to see if we could supply material for the very ambitious Million Pound Build for this year’s Children in Need. Naturally we agreed without hesitation! With only a day’s notice we were able to supply nearly 100m2 for the project, shipping it from North to South Wales (not exactly a direct route, either!).

By donating the ecodek® material we are delighted to have been able to support the wonderful work of The Roots Foundation, a volunteer led charity organisation based in Swansea who support young people in & leaving the care system with the transition period of independent living.

They aim to offer a bespoke and holistic service to their clients, ensuring that they encourage & empower individuals to positively participate within society & gain new skills, experiences and abilities as a result of their involvement.

The project, which is The Roots Foundation Wales’ new home, proved to be one of the biggest challenges ever for the BBC team. Following the demolition of the previous facility ‘The Hut’ the new property was built from the ground-up.

Covering a huge 320m2 it was built in just 11 days – thanks to the generous support of volunteer tradespeople & suppliers.

The new support centre, complete with temporary accommodation, will help young people in care and making the transition from the care system into adult life.

Emma Lewis, chair of The Roots Foundation Wales, had this to say about the project:

Words cannot describe how overjoyed we are about the incredible transformation that DIY SOS: The Big Build BBC Children in Need Special has turned around, from The Hut to this wonderful property, there’s no comparison.

Our new home will go on to help so many children and young people in care and leaving care now and in many years to come.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered time or materials, it means the world to The Roots Foundation Wales and the children and young people we support.

It’s so heart-warming to know the local community, Wales and beyond came together to create our new home.

We will cherish it.
