Covid 19 update 5th January 2021
With the announcement by the government of the New National Lockdown, the guidance states that the manufacturing and construction sectors may continue to operate.

We are, therefore, pleased to confirm that we will be continuing to operate as a business, with appropriate Covid safety measures in place during this period to support our customers and the wider industry supply chain.

The health and safety of our customers, suppliers and employees remains our top priority so we will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks, but at this stage we see no reason to change our manufacturing, distribution or service activities.

We encourage all staff, customers and suppliers to fully observe all recommended safe operating procedures and, in particular, the wearing of masks, social distancing and regular hand washing.

World Environment Day

At ecodek®, the environment is always at the top of our priority list and last Sunday, 5th June marked World Environment Day (WED). WED was first celebrated in 1974 and is an annual event that promotes worldwide awareness and action for protecting our environment.

WED is celebrated in 100 countries and each year, a different country takes a turn in hosting the official celebrations; with Angola leading the way in 2016. The theme also varies each year with this year’s theme of ‘Go Wild for Life’, which focuses on the illegal trade in wildlife and promotes species that are under threat.

So how can we all be agents of change? What can we do to get involved to make a difference?

Build your awareness

Learn about endangered species in your own country. The BBC’s Countryfile gives you a round up of the UK’s 10 most endangered animal species.

Increase your understanding

We may think that using herbicides and pesticides are a good thing, but avoid using them as they are hazardous and harmful to the wildlife; they can take a while to degrade and predators can be harmed if they eat poisoned animals. If you are stuck for using alternatives there’s a useful site called Beyond Pesticides, so go on, make that change!

Get Involved

Why not volunteer at your local nature centre or wildlife refuge which will benefit nature and wild spaces within your community? Check out the Wildlife Trust Organisation to find out more.

The ecodek® wildflower meadow is making (slow) progress!

Here at ecodek®, we make a difference to the environment by having a product that is both FSC (Forestry of Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the endorsement of Forest Certification) approved, meaning that any wood based product comes from a sustainable and well-managed forest. ecodek® is also made from 95% recycled material, a mixture of 60% post-industrial hardwood and 40% high density polyethylene, which saves 1,500 tonnes of plastics from landfill every year! We believe ecodek® is the best choice when you’re looking for environmentally friendly decking.

Once you’ve finished building your deck, you might have the odd offcut left over. To save these ecodek® scraps from being sent to landfill, we even offer an exclusive waste buy back scheme, which allows us to buy your off-cuts and any unused ecodek® boards. We recycle them into new product, saving you money and helping the environment at the same time.

So, let’s all make an effort by doing our bit and creating a greener future and a safe, sustainable environment for future generations.
