Universities, Student Accommodations and Ecodek
The starting dates for Universities are coming in rapid succession, which has a lot of students stressing, especially the first years as it is a completely new experience and many of them do not know what to except. As I have graduated University last year, I can say that time in the University is great, of course it can be stressful and difficult, but as long as you’re studying subject which you have genuine interest in, it makes it all worth it. If I could offer some advice, it would be to enjoy the learning, don’t treat it as a chore, but take pleasure in learning and building your horizons.
If you’re attending Manchester Metropolitan University, and staying at student accommodation in Wilmslow Park, you might see an area, which has been built for students to relax, or for the more energetic even do some exercise. Stationed right in the middle of the accommodation area, this fun area has been constructed from ecodek® speciality colours, developed specifically for the project. The blue and pink, which represent the corporate colours of the Manchester Metropolitan University, were specified by the architect and developed to match as closely as possible. This bespoke service is available for large projects.
If you are going to study in Leeds and lucky enough to be a resident at a student accommodation The Glassworks, you will see vast amount of ecodek® at the balconies and the communal walkways. ecodek® is perfect for these high traffic areas thanks to its low potential to slip, either wet or dry.
I’m aware that usually students will not pay much attention to the decking in their areas, and they will be more interested in the interiors of their accommodation, however I do recommend taking a minute to look at it and seeing how well our decking is built and how beautiful it can look. After all, in a few years’ time you might be looking at some decking for your own home, or even be able to recommend it to friends and family.
Even more, if you are studying a subject of science, you might learn about carbon negative process, which is how we manufacture ecodek®, we also dearly value our eco credentials as ecodek® is made out of recycled plastics and the wood is only supplied by PEFC sources (PEFC – Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), and the finished boards are also 100% recyclable.
Good luck to all the students starting their adventures at Universities across the country, and from my own experience, if I may ask you for one thing, with all the printing off you’re going to do, please do recycle the papers you do not need anymore and do not just throw them in the general waste, especially the drafts of the work, it does make a difference! Good luck!
