Gelclad Project

Our ecodek® team of Technologists in our Technical Department are always busy working at our onsite laboratory looking for exciting ways to improve and develop more ecodek® products.

In the last couple of weeks the Gelclad Project commenced, part of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme. Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe’s global competitiveness.

The overall aim of the project is to create, demonstrate and validate a cost effective, high energy and low intrusive systemic approach for retrofitting actions and new building façades. Making these changes will allow us to demonstrate and validate a highly affordable and efficient smart cladding eco-panel solution with improved nano-insulation properties, capable of ensuring the most strict energy efficiency requirements which can be met by a product incorporating ecodek.

Based on advanced nanotechnology, the inner layer of foam-like aerogel shall exceed the performance of the current state of the art insulation materials.

The ecodek® team is starting to look at innovation in order to improve our external insulation system covering weathering protection and ventilation. It is a lightweight & easy to install insulation solution incorporating passive airflow without the use of mechanic and energy consuming devices.

All very progressive and riveting stuff! But how can Gelclad benefit ecodek®? Well by meeting these standards, we hope that in the long run it will improve our products, reduce our manufacturing costs and increase our portfolio of products linked to the customer.

Also we remind you that as the trees are changing colour, nights are drawing in and the clocks soon go back, it’s time for that ecodek® autumnal bi-annual clean! The cleaning product we recommend is Saicos, specifically designed for wood polymer composite decking and has the added benefit of allowing your deck to maintain an optimum level of slip resistance.

We hope these helpful cleaning tips will be useful giving you further information on how to maintain your ecodek®, keeping it in tip-top condition.

Please note though, not cleaning your deck may create fungal growth which may impact upon your product warranty.

Keep your ecodek looking clean this autumn
