ecodek Team Hobbies
Having a hobby is a great way to relieve stress and having a creative outlet is a great way to meet new people. It’s always good to have a past time in order to switch off. Check out this link from Virgin.com on what happens to your brain when you don’t switch off. Richard Branson chooses to switch off in many ways, including one time when he went kiteboarding with Barack Obama – although this may not be for you! So if you are looking to decide which hobby will be enjoyable for you, we give you some ideas and thought we’d share with you what hobbies the ecodek® team have:-
As well as singing with my band called The Grove, I’ve had a lot of hobbies in the past – far too many –where do I start! From DJ’ing with a local hospital radio station, ballroom dancing to various keep fitness classes. It’s quite apt I’m writing this blog this week as I’m joining a new fitness class next week called Boogie Bounce. I bet you are wondering what that is. So basically it’s aerobics bouncing around on a mini trampoline. NASA agrees that bouncing is the most efficient and effective exercise yet devised by man. It also shows that bouncing around on a mini trampoline is 68% more effective than jogging and yet requires less effort!
Trade Sales Coordinator, Paul Birkill has his own allotment along with a couple of us who have seemed to have caught the bug! He has recently planted his own asparagus seeds and chili plants. Garden knowhow give you some useful information on how to grow asparagus from seed and Thompson and Morgan share with you information on how to grow your own chili peppers. Paul makes a mean chili jam sauce which we have all tried here at ecodek® towers. Doritos at the ready!
Why not start baking? It’s a great hobby and boosts confidence and provides a sense of achievement. Taking pleasure and pride in something you have created can significantly boost your self-esteem and sense of self-worth.
Our Star Baker, Julie Haddock obviously loves baking, she’s always making cakes and is looking forward to the next series of Bake Off. Why not start this weekend and bake Julie’s favourite, delicious caramel slices from BBC Good Food.
Felicity Hodgkinson, our Sales & Marketing Coordinator is currently training for a half marathon called Excalibur which is a tough trail event that traverses the spectacular Clwydian range of North Wales.
Felicity has been training really hard and has been running with a couple of friends. Running with colleagues can really be a boost for your motivation and they can encourage you. It’s easier to skip a workout when you are running on your own.
If you are looking to get started, we share with you a link from Runner’s World on half marathon training for beginners.
Steve Heard, General Manager and Paul Williams, Warehouse Supervisor both passionately follow Wrexham Football Club and attend all the home and away matches. Daniel Jones, Shift Supervisor is a Chester Football fan, so you can imagine the banter here at ecodek® towers when the local derby matches take place.
Jeff Angove, our Finance Director loves playing and watching both tennis and squash. Whether it’s in singles or doubles, tennis is a fun and exciting sport to pick up if you are looking for an activity that boosts your physical, mental and social aspects of health. Badminton is a great way to keep you in tip top shape especially if you are looking for a good alternative cross-training exercise.
Production Operator, Chris Robert’s plays pool for a local pub and is really good. He must be following these tips on wikihow on how to play pool like a pro.
Ross Hughes, Supervisor is one of our petrol heads and occasionally likes to watch motor sport events at The Anglesey Circuit in Ty Croes, Anglesey. Now we know why he is the reigning go kart champion!
On a sad note last week, we bid farewell to our Assistant Accountant, Mehraan Rafique who has left the company moving onto a brand new role and opportunity in Manchester.
Mehraan joined the company last March and has been a great asset to the team and we wish him well in his new role. It’s a complete change for Mehraan as he has also moved areas and is renting out a new flat as well. We all wish him the very best of luck.
If you have an unusual hobby, we would love to hear from you. Leave us a comment in the comments field below.
