Children In Need 2019
Children In Need has been the BBC’s UK charity since 1980 and in that time has raised over £1 billion for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Children In Need currently supports around 2,500 projects in the UK. They all work with children who are in tough situations and need help.
Last Friday Children In Need raised 47.9 million. One of the main challenges was the Rickshaw Challenge which is now in its ninth year. The Rickshaw is a cycling challenge and this year six young people joined The One Show’s Matt Baker to take on a pedal ride of 400 miles from Holyhead to London.

We always like to get involved in the appeal and let’s not forget that two years ago Ecodek were involved in DIY SOS and had donated a large area of slate grey Ecodek for an ambitious project to The Roots Foundation Wales which is a volunteer led charity based in Swansea.
We had two fun packed days of fundraising. Some of our team again rose to the challenge to support this worthwhile cause. Our team of Ecodek bakers has been busy in their kitchens producing a huge variety of cakes produced. From chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, Pudsey shaped biscuits, and a coffee and walnut cake. You could say that they went like hot cakes – delicious!
We have also been guessing how many sweets are in the jar. In total there were 384. Well done to Angela Hind, Sales Manager, for guessing the closest answer.
The Best Joker award goes to Steve Heard, General Manager, without question we always knew Steve would win as on a daily basis he is always telling jokes. He received a trophy which takes pride of place on his desk.
This year we decided to hold a Guess who’s who photo competition and some of the team have delved through their own personal photo archives and have provided their childhood photos plus a couple of celebrities were mixed in. The team had a real giggle guessing and trying to identify the Ecodek children. We have definitely had some fun! The winner of the competition Darren Chapman, has won a £10.00 gift voucher, from our friends at Bicks Chicks.
In total we have raised a grand total of £70.00 – A big thank you goes out to everyone who donated.
