Spring Cleaning Your ecodek

In the next few weeks it will be great to see the weather improve as we approach Easter and this may inspire you to get back out into your garden and start tidying, pruning, planting and getting those “must do” jobs, done!

Spring is the perfect time of the year for ensuring your ecodek® is looking its best and ready for the warmer months. A bi-annual clean is all it takes using a deck cleaning solution and a hose and brush. We recommend you use Saicos, a cleaner which is specifically designed for wood polymer composite decking, that has the added benefit of allowing your deck to maintain an optimum level of slip resistance.

Using our recommended WPC cleaner and a common garden hose is more than enough to clean and restore your ecodek® and if you are having difficulty in removing stains, please contact our Technical Department for advice on how best to remove them.

Always make up the cleaning solution as directed on the Saicos bottle and apply to the surface of the deck using a soft mop (or very soft nylon bristle brush) and gently work in to the surface. Allow the solution to sit for 15-20 minutes. The best way of loosening dirt and debris is by using a soft brush.

Go over the surface again with any remaining solution and immediately rinse off the solution using a garden hosepipe. Ensure all the solution is removed.

Don’t be tempted to use a jet wash as you may risk damaging the deck surface due to the high pressure some jet wash machines can produce.

There’s a couple of other jobs you can do at this time of the year in the garden whether it’s clearing up fallen leaves from lawns, weeding and tidying up borders or mowing your lawn.

Go around the garden checking for frost damage, cut back any affected stems and re-pot bound plants using fresh compost.

It’s also a good time for planning, by walking around your garden and looking for potential problems and things you would like to change.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) offers some alternative great gardening tips for March.

We hope these helpful cleaning tips will be useful giving your more information on how to maintenance your ecodek® keeping it in tip-top condition.
