Made In Britain Update
Ecodek became members of the Made in Britain organisation last June and it’s a great network for us to be part of, as it provides members with a platform discuss manufacturing in the UK, export hurdles and various opportunities to bounce ideas around with each other.
For those of you that haven’t heard of the Made in Britain Marque, it is a brand with easily recognisable logo and the supports and promotes British manufacturing, enabling buyers and consumers at home and abroad to identify British-made products. It works to unite and support and promote all manufacturers and the entire British manufacturing sector within the UK and around the world.
Made in Britain was originally set up by Prescot-based British cooker manufacturer Stoves in 2011, before evolving into an independent, not-for-profit organisation called the Made In Great Britain Campaign Ltd, which was officially established in June 2013. It was created to help buyers at home and abroad to identify and choose British made goods.
Jonathan Cooper, Managing Director and Felicity Hodgkinson, Marketing Manager both attended a Selling the Circular Economy workshop in Manchester on Wednesday hosted by John Pearce who is the Chief Executive of Made in Britain.
There were various speakers including Johnathan Townsend, SME & Manufacturing from Lloyds Bank who gave a presentation on export, trade and selling more overseas and Keith Freegard, Director at Axion Polymers who presented Delivering the Circular Economy Today.
It sounds like an amazing set up, Axion sell high quality polymer, aggregate and solid recovered fuel materials, produced from their plant in Manchester. They are focused on reducing landfill by developing, supporting circular economy initiatives and their goal is a future where products stay in use for as long as possible.
Axion are promoting the circular economy and work alongside professional from brands and industry sectors giving them support on how to design for sustainability and increase product recycling opportunities.
The workshop was beneficial, finding out how to make the most of our membership, having the opportunity of meeting other companies, sharing ideas on international exports, social media, marketing and PR.
